Performance & Live Trading Of The Automated Strategies

Before I show you the stats of the strategies you’ll get in Algo Nation, there’s one thing I must point out.

You’ll be able to see what makes Algo Nation's strategies different from most algo programs out there.

Maybe you tried buying an algo in the past… only to have it lose money consistently after a few months.

So this leaves the question: “Why do so many algos fail?”

The answer is simple: Over-optimization

Most people who build algos do everything they can to make it seem flawless. They want this straight-no drawdown equity curve. That’s what makes traders buy after all.

However, you can’t expect to be getting a consistent paycheck with an algo that’s built to look good.

It might work for 1-2 months… but eventually it will just start losing consistently.

The way I built algos in Algo Nation is different… because every rule of each strategy is based on my manual trading.

We didn’t optimize it at all. We simply designed it in way that can be adapted to the market condition at any given time.

All the settings we use are based on simple market logic.

That being said, let’s get into the performance & live trading results of Algo Nation…

We have collected data on the strategies over a 2 year period up to today.

Check out this summary of both automated strategies combined:

Since both strategies complement each other, we’re able to keep the max. drawdown very low (between 7.46% and 11.5%). Trading manually, my regular drawdown was around 15%.

But what about on a monthly basis?

Having the strategies part of Algo Nation running at the same time means you’ll capture both trend and reversal trades.

There are very few losing months as you’ll see below and on most months the strategies made between 1.7-5% (given a low 1% risk per trade).

Here's what the equity curve looks like.

This is what a normal & healthy equity curve looks like in trading. Not like what you see on social media.

The reason it looks steep is we are compounding the returns. A non-compounded equity curve would be more choppy.

Here’s some more proof straight from MyFxBook (non-compounded).

Secretariat (day trading strategy) on EUR/USD 15min:

This strategy focuses on day trading trends. It works well on several Forex pairs with a win rate of 47%, but a reward to risk of 2:1 or more.

AUDUSD 1hr is one of my favorite pairs to run the Bollinger Bands Reversal strategy on:

Usually a higher win rate on AUD pairs, 65% in this case!

If you invested $10,000 with the algo 4 years & 3 months ago, you’d have $154,535.31 in your account today given a risk of 1% per trade (compounded).

This translates to 5.3% per month on average.

Let's be clear: this is backtested data because I wasn't trading the algo 4 years ago. Also, I am not guaranteeing any results. You'll get the same tools & settings I use... yet it's your responsibility to use them how you want.

But the next 2 years of walk-forward (live) trading were no different...

In 2021-2023, our typical algo portfolio returned 67.42%

This means your earlier $154,535.31 would have turned into $258,723.01

More than 8x the typical return of the S&P 500 (or any hedge fund).

If you had simply set up the algos with our recommended settings and let them run on MT4, you'd be up 31.35% by now! 

Not a bad start this year with completely hands-off trading!

You can decide to trade fewer or more pairs/instruments if you wish. That way you can create a portfolio you're happy with.

I hope you can see from these trading performance stats that:

1. The strategies aren’t over-optimized and therefore likely to work long-term.
2. The algos work on many pairs & timeframes to your preference
3. You’re able to get a very good return in relation to the risk & drawdown

The 3rd point is especially important. These are the kinds of algo that could fairly easily get you funded by a prop firm if you set them up right!

If you want to pass a 30-day prop firm challenge, we'd recommend reducing the risk per trade to 0.5% per trade or lower. And it's probably a good idea to focus on day trading over swing trading.
